Eleni Theofilaktou graduated from the Drama School of R. Pateraki in 1985 and the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1991.
She completed her post-graduate studies in painting and visual art theories at the University of East London (2001-02). She has presented her work in solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. Her works are to be found in private and public collections, including the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki, the State Museum of Thessaloniki and other.

Due to her theatre studies, she chooses in many occasions to express her artistic work by using means that exceed the limits of the canvas, such as performance and video art, in an effort to somehow transcribe the rawness of the everyday. Theofilaktou often uses paraphrased slogans or iconoclastic comments as misleading traps in order to distract attention from the image. In her recent research work, the artist has deconstructed tactlessly parts of the image; her aim is not to enchant by using the myth of the image, but by way of the enchantment that is inherent in painting anyway.
